We are big foodies on a not so big budget, looking for places to visit that are off the tourist circuit; also looking for cheap to moderately priced accomodations. I love guidebooks and I buy lots of them. If you are looking for budget accommodations, Rick Steves' France would be good. I am using both Frommer's France and RS France to plan for a trip next year, and RS seems to have more detailed info on the places I'm going, even though Frommer's is bigger. The DK book has nice pictures, but otherwise wasn't very useful. I brought the Cadogan guide with us, but it was maddening because it had website URLs instead of street addresses and other practical information.
