Attribution CC BY. There is a hyperlinked table of contents with fairly descriptive chapter titles. However, the text lacks an index that could be used to find specific terms and concepts by searching directly. There is a list of relevant terms at the end of each There is a list of relevant terms at the end of each chapter; however this is not a glossary, as the terms are not defined. The content is accurate and presented at a level that would be understandable to biology majors in an introductory course.

Essential Cell Biology. ISBN: X. In many colleges and universities, including my own, the biology major encompasses the range of biological complexity from molecular and cellular biology through ecology and ecosystem biology. Although many students go on to more advanced courses in either cellular or molecular biology, this single class is the only exposure that many students have to one of the most rapidly growing fields in modern biology. Finding a textbook that adequately presents these broad areas at an appropriate introductory level is challenging.

International Review of Cell and Molecular Biology, Volume reviews current advances in cell and molecular biology. This latest release covers Metabolic alterations at the crossroad between aging and oncogenesis, Molecular and cellular mechanisms of auto-immunity, Old and novel functions of caspase-2, Organelle crosstalk in oncogenic metabolic reprogramming, a Molecular Biology Digest of Cellular Mitophagy, the Regulation of cell calcium and role of plasma membrane calcium ATPases, and Mechanisms of cortical differentiation. The IRCMB series has a worldwide readership, maintaining a high standard by publishing invited articles on important and timely topics that are authored by prominent cell and molecular biologists. Users will find that the articles published in IRCMB have a high impact and average cited half-life of nine years. This great resource ranks high amongst scientific journals dealing with cell biology. IRCMB articles are addressed to a very wide public, ranging from undergraduate and graduate students to experienced scientists in a specific field.
