The narrator and main character is not Hassan, but Amir, a privileged Pashtun boy living in Kabul. It is a mesmerizing tale of the bonds of friendship and blood strained by cultural traditions, history and, above all, individual actions. Suited for young adults, "The Kite Runner" movie and book has scenes that may be disturbing, especially to children. The main character, Amir, struggles throughout his boyhood with the sense that his father disapproves of him. That being said, the movie is true to the story, and both the novel and film draw the audience in to a world that is foreign to many, yet filled with familiar emotions and relationships.

I too, think that the novel was better and that the actor really didn't get the emotion of the story through. They left out the important parts in the movie that gives it a certain feel that makes you love the characters. FionaI I really like how you listed all of the difference that you noticed between the book and the movie. This really put it all into perspective for me and showed how much was really taken out or changed during the process. You and I also seem to have the same opinion as well that the directors really should not have changed as much as they should and that none of it was really quite as effective as I'm sure they had hoped.
