Up and down terry fallis book club questions
Review: Up and Down by Terry FallisIn short, I was entertained. In this way, Fallis blurs the line between page and screen. We meet David on his first day at work at the international public relations firm of Turner King. Turner King has been asked to rekindle interest in the space program on both sides of the border. David comes up with the idea for a contest to send two ordinary citizens, one Canadian, one American, into space. The scheme earns the praise of his boss and the irritation of his new co-workers, especially Amanda, his comically competitive team leader. Fallis is not just a novelist; he is co-founder of the public relations firm Thornley Fallis.

Books: Up and Down, by Terry Fallis
Although I have enjoyed reading his books, they are also so fun to listen to via podcast. The satire and his great narration make the kilometres pass quickly and are a great way to end a busy day at the office! I have had the privilege to meet Terry Fallis twice at author events. Both events kept the audience laughing as he shared his own life experiences and discussed his novels! Thanks to Terry for taking the time to answer my novel questions!! Did you always want to be a writer? Actually, I came to writing later in life.
When I call this book an absurd fairytale, I mean it in the nicest way! The novel revolves around Canadian David Stewart, who starts a new job in a global public relations company. When the contest winners are drawn, one Canadian and one American, they are interesting, somewhat stereotyped characters. Both winners present some challenges and conflicts that they must overcome to be approved to take their trip to the International Space Station. While this is a humourous entertainment book, book club members noted that the author included a lot of detail and research on NASA, space training, flight, and even surgery.

Up And Down (2012)
The subject who is truly loyal to the Chief Magistrate will neither advise nor submit to arbitrary measures. Up and Down offers a lighthearted plot involving slamming doors, vaudeville turns, plot twists and a lot of good-natured badinage. As plot elements go, space travel and public relations make an unusual combo. But Terry Fallis pulls it off in Up and Down , a breezy, gentle satire that also finds room for a decades-old mystery, siblings struggling with the slow death of a parent, and a few more fillips that embroider the yarn without tying it in knots. In his previous job, narrator David Stewart as with the author toiled in the precincts of Parliament, running media relations for the minister of science and technology. Now, he's a rookie at the Toronto branch of U. National Aeronautics and Space Administration account.
